Family-Owned Hobby Farm
At Riverside Acres Farm, we are passionate about sustainable farming and nurturing our land. Our farm has evolved into a haven for various animals and crops, blending tradition with modern practices.
We are a mother and son duo who often calls in backup from Papa and grandma for the big projects. It all started when Papa built his grandson a custom coop for the six baby chicks his grandson convinced him to get him in 2020. We quickly fell in love with our hens and the diverse colors of eggs they produced, I've been chasing baskets of rainbow eggs since. We have since expanded to hens, roosters, Sebastopol geese, ducks and Coturnix quail. One of our favorite members of our farm, is our loyal and dedicated guardian dog, who fearlessly goes after any predator in the vicinity, even when it means she's sprayed by skunks multiple times a year.
My son's ultimate goals are to open a self-serve farm stand for the Rock Island area in spring of 2026 and to add a pair of mini Highland cows in spring of 2027, while I would love to add a pair of Nigerian dwarf goats to the pasture with the cows. Unfortunately, having a full time job and a kid who plays sports for travel teams, our goals take a little longer to achieve than we'd both like.
